Osteopathic Treatment
Osteopathy is suitable for people of all ages and states of fitness. Age ranges treated by Shelley have been 1 week to 97 years and any type of pain, discomfort or dysfunction can be treated. It does not matter if you cannot lay or sit, there will always be a way to treat you.
Shelley is well versed in all forms of osteopathic treatment style:
- Soft tissue work – involving massage, fluid movement within muscle groups, trigger point release. Good for introducing treatment and balancing fluids.
- Articulation – moving muscles or joints to encourage good movement of blood, lymph and synovial fluids. For allowing the correct movement of joints as well as assessing joint integrity.
- Neurological work – engaging nerves using gentle muscle contraction to effect length, pain feedback, twitching and cramping. Helping to reposition contracted muscles or reset nerves.
- Visceral work – assessing the position of internal organs and gently moving them into the correct place. Ideal for kidneys after infections, stomach acid-reflux relief, gallbladder pain and many more issues where pain cause cannot be identified.
- Cranial work – using specific hand holds to encourage correct positioning of the cranial bones. Cranial bone mal-position has been linked to mood changes, anxiety, headaches, eye strain, sinusitis and jaw pain.
Nutrition and Weight Management and Food Allergy and Intolerance Advice
Shelley provides this service and you will require at least two sessions.
The first consultation is to investigate your issue and take a full medical history. You will receive preliminary advice and may be asked to complete a food and symptom diary.
At the second and subsequent sessions your food diary will be assessed and a diagnosis given. Advice will be given regarding food habits as well as suggestions around dietary adjustments.
This process needs full engagement by the patient for best results.
Counselling
Jayne’s counselling approach is eclectic, in that the style of counselling reflects the needs of the client. Her training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychoanalysis and Humanistic styles to enable you to recover from any or many of the following issues:
Anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, addictions, relationship & family issues, self-esteem, confidence building and fear based issues.
She also offers couples counselling for those in need of relationship support.
As a qualified Psychologist, Jayne will explain why your brain (and body) is behaving in certain ways in order to guide you (and it!) to recovery. Together you will find a recovery pathway suitable and this includes work outside of the clinic. Your engagement with the process is key to finding the most permanent solution for your issues.
